Title

Key technologies and applications of hydrogen fuel cell hybrid power rail locomotive

Abstract

With the “emission peak” and “carbon neutrality” national goals put forward, renewable energy such as hydrogen energy will be further developed and utilized. Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is a green and environmentally friendly power generation device that converts hydrogen energy into electrical energy through a series of electrochemical reactions. It has outstanding advantages such as clean, high efficiency, high reliability, and stable power generation efficiency. At present, fuel cells have been successfully applied in many fields such as new energy vehicles, trams, smart power stations, etc.

With the continuous advancement of economic development and urbanization, the country has paid more and more attention to the development of rail transit vehicles. Therefore, applying PEMFC power generation technology to rail transit systems and constructing a green and environmentally friendly hybrid power system for locomotives is considered to be a solution with important practical significance.Especially in long-distance and high-power use cases, it is expected that fuel cell technology can play an increasingly important role in the railway sector.

Fuel cell hybrid railway vehicles are complex electromechanical systems. The power flow of a hybrid system ties to the configuration and power distribution in the drive line. Accordingly, the core issue is to formulate energy management strategies to achieve long-term stable driving for regional rail transport without external charging, while improving potential fuel economy and component lifetime.

On the premise of introducing fuel cell technology, this presentation focuses on the development background, application status, key technologies, existing challenges, and development trends of hydrogen fuel cell hybrid power rail locomotive.
