In recent
years, with the increasing demand for high speed and large capacity data,
optical communication is receiving more and more attention. According to the
different application scenarios, it can be divided into space optical
communication, underwater optical communication, visible optical communication,
optical fiber communication, etc. In order to ensure
the stability of optical link, the research of navigation and tracking
technology is indispensable, and the comprehensive modeling analysis is also
necessary. In addition, terahertz wave transmission, optical networks, and
optical sensing are becoming more and more important for the construction of 6G
and faster networks. The focus of this special issue is to collect emerging
research achievements within the scope of optical communications and optical
networks.

of interest for submission include, but are not limited to:

secure optical communication;
