The electrification of transportation is experiencing a revolutionary shift, and many emerging mobility solutions, such as EV, eVTOL, all-electric aircraft, rail transportation, etc., have redefined industrial and societal norms. This shift is mainly propelled by advanced technologies in electrical machines. This special session aims to gather pioneering contributions on the design, modeling and control of electrical machines, addressing key challenges in transportation electrification. Topics include thermal management, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and the integration of machine learning and digital twin technologies, etc. We encourage submissions that showcase theoretical innovation and practical implementations demonstrating the potential of these technologies to improve efficiency, reliability, and sustainability in transportation systems powered by advanced electrical machines.
Environmental concerns and stringent regulations are compelling industries to cut down carbon dioxide emissions, accelerating the advancement of transportation electrification. Within the context of transportation electrification, advancements in electrical machine technologies not only enhance energy efficiency and range but also lead to a further reduction in environmental impact, thereby promoting sustainable transportation solutions. Therefore, the exploration and development of cutting-edge technologies for electrical machines in transportation electrification are justified by their substantial theoretical significance and broad practical applications.
This session invites contributions on advanced technologies in electrical machines, with applications spanning transportation electrification such as electrified vehicles, including on-road, off-road, rail vehicles, airplanes, and ships. By organizing this session, our aim is to foster profound discussions among researchers and practitioners. The sharing of visionary papers and innovative ideas will hasten the advancement of electrical machines and their drive systems, resulting in more efficient, reliable, and sustainable solutions for transportation electrification.
We invite high-quality research papers and contributions on, but not limited to, the following topics:
