Invited Session on Hybrid Energy Storage Topologies, Advanced Control Strategies and Applications in Power System Operation, Control and Planning

Organizers: Xiaoqing Han, Taiyuan University of Technology, Peng Wang, Nanyang University of Technology

Energy storage system (ESS) plays an important role to mitigate various stability, reliability and economic problems caused by power mismatch due to high penetration of renewable power generation. Typical examples include a dynamic power buffer to mitigate frequency and voltage variation; a fast spinning reserve for frequency restoration; a flexible mixture of load and generator for financial benefits of both system end-users. In order to meet different operation and planning requirements in different time scale, the hybrid ESSs, which combine the inherent advantages of different types of energy storage system, provide effective and reliable solutions for the problems in full time scale. Prospective authors are invited to submit the original contributions and survey on the following topics:

  • Architectures of hybrid ESSs
  • Power converter design and control for hybrid ESSs
  • Energy manage strategies and coordination control of hybrid ESSs
  • Reliability analysis of hybrid ESSs
  • Stability analysis of hybrid ESSs
  • Applications of hybrid ESS in utility grid

Research papers with proper consideration for practical applications will be considered favorably for acceptance.

Please submit your full paper on the submission website by deadline.
