Special Session on Advanced Mechatronics in Offshore Systems

Organizers: Prof. Houxiang Zhang (NTNU, Norway) and Prof. Jing Zhou (UiA, Norway)

Towards the new industrial revolution Industry 4.0 in offshore engineering, today the concept of offshore mechatronics is a combination of disciplines including mechanics, electrics, control, computer science, machine design, industrial IT, intelligent monitoring, and robotics. The challenges have been promoting the development of new methods, technologies, and processes in offshore systems toward a promising future. The purpose of this invited session is to create a platform for scientists, engineers and practitioners to present their latest theoretical and technological advancements in advanced mechatronics for offshore systems. Topics of interest include but not limited to:

  • Control system design and applications in offshore systems
  • Intelligent and autonomous offshore systems
  • Dynamic modeling and simulation of offshore systems
  • Vehicle guidance and navigation
  • Machine learning and artificial intelligent in offshore engineering
  • Marine cyber-physical systems
  • Ocean renewable energy and applications
